On Saturday the 12th of May Ruben will play live at the Deventer Jazz Festival with his full live band including horns. Next to the gig with his band, Ruben will also give a one-off solo guest performance with the critically acclaimed Millennium Jazz Orchestra at the beginning of the evening.

On May 6th, Ruben will already play the last gig of this jazztour! This gig will be at a very special location; the Leeuwenbergh church in the city centre of Utrecht. Starting at 16.00 o’clock, Ruben, Ernst Glerum (bass) and Joost Patocka (drums) will definitely get you in the mood for a lazy Sunday afternoon jazz session.

Live from the MC Theatre in Amsterdam, Ruben will play a live set in the popular radio show Mijke’s Middag on Dutch Radio 6. Between 16.00 and 19.00, Ruben will play three songs live from his new album ‘Revisited’. The live radio show will be broadcasted on March 30 and is open for public.

With REVISITED Ruben Hein went back to his jazzroots. He recorded together with Ernst Glerum on bass and Joost Patocka on drums a selection of songs from his debut album Loose Fit. Only instrumental, with Ruben Hein behind the grand piano, so no vocals at all! This EP entiteld REVISITED will be released by Blue Note 24 February. And since Ruben enjoyed this jazz setting so much they will do a small tour together starting March 7 in Paradox, Tilburg.

From the 10th of January till the 14h, the 3rd edition of the
successful concept ‘’Musical Heroes’’ will take place again in theater ‘’De Kleine Komedie’’ in Amsterdam. A wide variety of guests will be present and share their love for music and the people that inspired them. Guests include; Fay Lovsky, Henk Hofstede, Sabrina Starke, Phatt, Thomas van Luyn, Pien Feith, Leo Blokhuis and our very own Ruben Hein. He will play his favorite songs in his own rendition. On the 8th of January, the 18^th edition of the Lions New Years
concert will take place at Theater De Spiegel in Zwolle. Ruben Hein will perform there in the afternoon together with the Jeugdsymfonieorkest De Vuurvogel. Expect a program full of cheerful music that will definitely lighten up your day! You can get your tickets here.

2011 is done. Some highlights: Noorderslag Festival in Groningen, Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta (I), club tour through Holland, hugging Bill Withers, the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, cruising California and working with Lori Lieberman, playing in Carré with the Metropole Orchestra and Jonathan Jeremiah, releasing the Live album, gigging with Oleta Adams and the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, a double 3FM Award nomination, an Edison nomination, “Elephants” on high rotation in Japan, the whole festival season last summer, recording the “Revisited” jazz EP (will be released in February) with Ernst Glerum and Joost Patočka, the band: Stefan, Paul, Hugo, Maarten, Coos, Bart and Nahui (and of course Alex, Sean, Floris, Miguel, Lourens, Valentijn, Bastiaan, Robbert, Eric, Mark). And I’m pretty damn proud of all the stuff we did this year (and I feel quite comfortable bragging about this, as you’ve probably noticed)! But now it’s time to look forward again. 2012 will be a busy year, with writing a new record being the main goal. I find it shit-scary, and I hope to live up to the expectations, but I’m also looking forward to the writing proces again. I wonder where we’ll be in one year from now…

To all of you: thank you for your support the last year. I’ve said this before, I know, but thanks to you guys I’m able to do the things I love the most. Playing and writing. Thank you for that.

I wish you all a f*cking great 2012! Make it worthwhile. Now, let’s get drunk…
